Business and civil organizations call‌ for balanced Congress

Business and civil organizations are urging respect for the will of the citizens and a balanced Congress of the Union. In a letter to‍ electoral authorities, organizations including Coparmex‌ and ‌Mexico Evalúa⁤ expressed concern over ⁤potential overrepresentation of political coalitions in the upcoming Chamber of Deputies.

They argue that the⁢ Constitution establishes⁤ two essential limitations: no party or coalition can have an overrepresentation greater‌ than 8% or more than 300‌ deputies in total. They call on the INE and Electoral Tribunal to ensure these limitations are‌ applied to both individual parties and coalitions, guaranteeing fair and balanced representation in Congress.

The organizations emphasize that democracy rests on principles like freedom of expression, enterprise, and education. They warn that excessive overrepresentation of a single party threatens these rights and undermines ⁣the balance⁣ of power necessary in a democratic state.
