The Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) strongly condemned the murder of the businessman Julio Almanza in Tamaulipas.
“This tragic event highlights the growing concern for security in the country and the risk faced by businessmen. Our solidarity is with the family of Almanza Armas and with the entire business community that has lost a committed leader,” said Coparmex.

He pointed out that the insecurity situation in Mexico calls for a unified response. “It is imperative that we work together to strengthen security across the country and ensure a safe environment for all citizens and businesses.”
He added that this tragic event underlines the serious situation of insecurity facing Mexico and, in particular, the business sector.
He recalled that according to official data, the crime of extortion, January to June 2024 recorded 31 victims per day, which means more than one extortion per hour.

“This represents an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period in 2023. In addition, the crime of extortion is among the most reported by our partners in the #DataCoparmex survey.”
