London, Jul 20 (EFE).- The legal representative of Corinna Zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, ex-lover of Juan Carlos I of Spain, listed several alleged acts of surveillance to which the businesswoman was subjected this Thursday in the High Court of London and that are part of her lawsuit against the king emeritus for alleged harassment.

In judicial room number 13, that court continued to hear the arguments of the plaintiff today, on the third of the four days reserved for this case, after the defense of the former monarch presented his own on Wednesday.

Corinna, dressed in a pink jacket and surrounded by her public relations team and lawyers, is at the preliminary hearing this Thursday, presided over by Judge Rowena Collins Rice.

Jonathan Caplan, Corinna’s lawyer, began the day by presenting his arguments on the lawsuit against Juan Carlos I, who is accused of having subjected his ex-lover to situations of harassment, directly or through third parties between 2012 and 2020.

However, the alleged acts committed before June 18, 2014 are out of dispute because the Court of Appeals in England and Wales recognized the immunity of the former Spanish head of state until that date of his abdication.

Among the alleged acts of harassment, Caplan mentioned that between September and October 2018 there was surveillance and interception of the complainant’s mobile phone communications in the United Kingdom, while a hole was found in June 2017 in a window of the Corinna country property in the county of Shropshire, in north-west England.

Between April and May 2020, there were attempts to gain access to the closed-circuit security system in that country house.

Caplan also mentioned the surveillance of which Corinna’s public relations adviser, Salamander Davoudi, was allegedly a victim in London during an Uber trip in 2019. Added to this, according to what he said, was the interception or monitoring of the adviser’s mobile communications and internet accounts.

This caused “anguish” and “alarm” to the ex-lover of the emeritus king, the lawyer explained.

“These are serious acts in every sense,” said Caplan, who has until tomorrow to present the arguments with the ultimate goal that the lawsuit can eventually go to trial.

Corinna requests compensation of 126 million pounds (about 146 million euros) and alleges that the alleged harassment of the emeritus caused anxiety and depression, as well as loss of income.

However, the former head of state of Spain “emphatically” rejects that he participated in or directly harassed his ex-lover. EFE
