Corinth: Poseidonia bridge broke while sinking – Wire rope cut

by time news

The Poseidonia bridge in Corinth was put out of service again on Sunday evening.

According to korinthostv.grthe bridge broke when the cable was cut during the sinking.

No injuries were reported at the scene, as there were no vehicles on the bridge at the time.

It is recalled that a similar incident occurred 9 months ago, that is on October 14, 2023, when a mechanical failure occurred in the electric motor in one of the lifting winches during the process of sinking the Poseidonia Bridge.

However, the fact that last April, maintenance work was done on the Poseidonia bridge is impressive. They started on Monday 04/01/2024 and ended on Friday 04/05/2024.

Further checks will be carried out by competent crews before it is restored and reworked. The bridge is still closed.
