The father of the “early Christian” family, which lives in caves in mountainous Corinthia, was arrested.
On Sunday morning, the social services, in the presence of the police, went to the place where the family of “old Christians” lives in the area of the municipality of Eurostini-Xylokastro in order to perform an autopsy.
The father of the family was taken into custody because he resisted the search. Subsequently, his arraignment turned into an arrestfor disobedience and non-compliance with the compulsory school attendance of his three minor children.
During the investigations only his 15-year-old son was found, who was transferred to the “Children’s” hospital by order of the prosecutor. At the same time, the police are looking for the remaining members of the “old Christians” family, three children and two women who live in the community, who were not located during the investigations.
An autopsy was done to find out how many minor children live in this community, if their births have been declared, who are their parents and if they go to school.
The living conditions of the family of “old Christians”, as they define themselves, came to light after a complaint was made to the authorities about an incident with hunters. During the ensuing police operation, improvised weapons, cartridges, bows and arrows among others were found.
