Canceled tickets, sales stops – the premonition of the Bundesliga

Federal and state governments agree – compulsory vaccination must come

The federal and state governments agree that the general vaccination must come. The Bundestag should vote on it this year. For this purpose, the parliamentary group obligation is to be lifted.

Even before the Corona decisions by politics, the Bundesliga is on the defensive. A number of clubs are taking action ahead of the weekend’s game day. The top game Dortmund against FC Bayern is also affected.

AIn view of the expected new capacity limits in the stadiums of the Bundesliga soccer clubs at the weekend, several clubs are taking initial precautions. Borussia Dortmund canceled all tickets that had already been sold before their top game against FC Bayern Saturday (6.30 p.m.).

BVB announced on Wednesday that it was expecting a “pandemic-related reduction in capacities” by the North Rhine-Westphalian state government. Borussia Mönchengladbach also canceled all tickets already purchased before their game against SC Freiburg on Sunday (5.30 p.m.). Arminia Bielefeld at least announced that she would not sell any more tickets for the game against 1. FC Köln on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).

The federal and state governments want to finally decide on stricter measures to combat the corona pandemic this Thursday. Among other things, it concerns details of a nationwide reduction in the number of spectators at major events such as the Bundesliga, which has already been envisaged. The aim of politics is to find a uniform line here that should then apply to all federal states.

67,000 tickets were sold in Dortmund

According to its own information, BVB had already sold all of the 67,000 available tickets for the Bayern game. These have now been canceled, the buyers should get the money back.

In extreme cases, the federal and state governments could decide that the Bundesliga will again play ghost games without any spectators. What is more likely, however, is that the number of spectators in the stadiums will be significantly reduced. BVB announced that it would wait for the decision on the matter before becoming active again in the ticket area. “As soon as the political decision about permissible future stadium occupancy in North Rhine-Westphalia has been made and we have reliable information on this matter, we will inform you about the new advance booking,” it said.

Gladbach does the same. The foal club also canceled all previously sold tickets, and information about the new advance ticket sales should be available on Thursday. It is clear that against Freiburg “significantly fewer than the previously planned almost 48,500 spectators” would be allowed in the stadium, it said. Arminia Bielefeld at least announced that she would not sell any more tickets for the Cologne game. They want to wait for the political decisions on viewer admission and then inform them about how to proceed.

The managing director of FC Augsburg, Michael Ströll, criticized demands from Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), among others, to even bet on ghost games by the end of the year.

Union against Leipzig will probably take place

“I don’t think ghost games are proportionate because we can implement infection protection well under the previous conditions and the existing hygiene concepts, which are classified as exemplary worldwide,” said Ströll. Söder had previously proposed to forego spectators in the professional leagues for the coming game days. “We’re trying to do it all over Germany again, but we’d go it alone in Bavaria at that point,” he said.

Söder opens vaccination center in the Heilig-Geist-Saal

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder and Nuremberg’s Lord Mayor Marcus König take part in the opening of a new vaccination center in the Heilig-Geist-Saal. Nuremberg is currently steadily increasing its vaccination capacities.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig can play their game at 1. FC Union Berlin as planned. As the club announced, all PCR tests carried out on Tuesday were negative. Rapid tests should also be carried out again on Wednesday lunchtime. “If these tests are negative too, team training will be resumed,” said Leipzig.

On Tuesday, four quick tests were positive – according to media reports, the city’s health department announced that it would send the team to a five-day quarantine in the event of further corona cases.
