Large-scale testing for corona is no longer necessary in the Netherlands, says the Outbreak Management Team (OMT), the Dutch expert council, in its latest advice to the government. According to the OMT, corona is no longer a pandemic, but is in the so-called endemic phase, which means that the virus is part of everyday life.

Measures against corona should be equated as much as possible with “generic measures” that already apply to other respiratory infections, the OMT advises.
In principle, healthcare workers no longer have to wear a mouth mask if they come within 1.5 meters of a patient.
The current advice to stay at home if you have complaints, to do a self-test and to go into isolation if the test is positive, can also be scrapped as far as the OMT is concerned. The test lanes in the Netherlands can be scaled down as far as the OMT is concerned.
