Corona – Opponents of Corona measures demonstrated in Vienna

by time news

The national holiday on Tuesday also called the opponents of the corona measures back on the scene. In Vienna’s Resselpark in front of the Karlskirche, more than 2,000 people demonstrated after a march towards the city center. But there were also smaller gatherings in other places in the city. There were no riots or other incidents until the afternoon.

According to the police, around 1,700 participants moved to Karlsplatz around 2 p.m., but a number of participants came over the years. Both Austrian and German flags were waved on the national holiday. Some representatives of the neo-Nazi scene also took part in the demonstration in appropriate clothing.

No participation of the FPÖ

The classic FPÖ election campaign “Immer wieder Österreich” by John Otti sounded from loudspeakers, and a variation of the national anthem was also loudly voiced. The musical contributions were interrupted by speeches by the organizers, but there were no politicians’ speeches – for example by FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl – there were none. From the FPÖ it was said that this was not planned either.

Corona demonstrators had already gathered elsewhere, including in the inner courtyard not far from the “vaccination castle” of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. List MFG, which had entered the state parliament in Upper Austria, had a stand near the Museum Quarter. (apa)
