Corona restrictions are being relaxed – the masks are falling in France today – politics abroad

by time news

France largely relaxed its corona restrictions on Monday.

Masks are no longer compulsory in many areas of public life. In addition, vaccination certificates no longer have to be presented in many places.

In France, the corona numbers have fallen just as rapidly in the past few weeks as they had previously risen. For about a week, however, they have been rising again slightly.

A kind of 2G rule has been in force in France since mid-January, for example to be able to visit sports facilities, museums, cinemas or restaurants. Two weeks ago, the government already lifted the mask requirement for numerous places with restricted access.

At the beginning of the year, the number of infections in the country of 65 million people had reached record levels.

The seven-day incidence – i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week – was around 3800 at the time.

Most recently, the value was just over 600.

In the face of a resurgence in numbers, Prime Minister Jean Castex recommended in the newspaper Le Parisien that the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions continue to wear a mask indoors and at gatherings.

He also announced that people over the age of 80 can now receive a fourth dose of corona vaccine if the third vaccination was more than three months ago.
