Corona traffic light is red – but orange in sight

by time news

The Corona traffic light could become multicolored again in the foreseeable future. But the whole country is still red. That means there is a very high risk from Burgenland to Vorarlberg. However, the trend in the number of cases, except in Lower Austria, has been declining over the past two weeks, according to the working document of the responsible commission, which is available to the APA.

The so-called risk number, which determines the color scheme, continues to provide the maximum risk range from 100, but falling below it has recently become easier to achieve thanks to changed criteria. No federal state has yet managed to advance at least into the orange sector of high risk, but Vienna is relatively close with 122.6.

However, other federal states made a bigger leap in the right direction. The risk number in Tyrol last week was 500.8. This week it has fallen to 282.6. Admittedly, Tyrol is still the federal state with the most unfavorable location. Only Carinthia has a risk number over 200 (258.8). In the previous week, seven countries were still above this mark.

Almost everywhere there has been a double-digit percentage drop in cases in the past 14 days. Only in Vienna was the minus six percent, in Lower Austria the number of cases even stagnated. There is also the majority of those only a good dozen districts and regions in which the infection rate is increasing. Scheibbs calculated the highest value over the past two weeks, Jennersdorf the lowest.

Asymptomatic cases were found again mainly in the test pioneer state of Vienna, which is among other things fighting against the phasing out of the free tests for this reason. Almost 127,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants were also counted in the federal capital. In Salzburg there were not even 30,000. Not surprisingly, only 1.7 percent were positive in the Vienna tests, 6.5 percent in Salzburg and even 7.4 percent in Tyrol.
