Corona’s hidden danger .. How has loneliness affected mental health?

by time news

Scientific research has found that feelings of loneliness increased during the pandemic, which prompted experts to call some cases of loneliness an “epidemic.”
According to CNN, this unit – which is a hidden danger to Corona – is associated with increased depression and anxiety, as well as shorter life, early deaths, dementia, sleep disorders, and many other conditions.
And researchers had concluded that a third of those recovering from the Corona virus who were included in a scientific study, after their recovery, suffered psychological and mental disorders, which raises more concerns about the negative effects that the Corona virus leaves even after recovery from it.
Scientists reported that one out of every three recovering from Covid-19 suffered from brain disorders or psychological disorders within six months, in a study that included more than 230,000 patients, most of them Americans, indicating that the pandemic may lead to a wave of mental and neurological problems.
The researchers who conducted the analysis said it was not clear how the virus was linked to psychological problems such as anxiety and depression, but these two symptoms were among the most common disorders out of 14 they investigated.
They explained that cases of stroke, dementia and other neurological disorders were more rare in the post-Covid-19 stage, but they still exist, especially among those who were infected with the disease in its severe form.
“Our results indicate that brain diseases and mental disorders are more common after Covid-19 than after influenza or other respiratory diseases,” said Max Tackett, a psychiatrist at Oxford University, who co-led the research work. He added that the study was not able to identify the biological or psychological mechanisms that lead to this, but that urgent research is needed to identify these mechanisms “in order to prevent or treat them.”
