The World Health Organization says a new strain of the corona virus called XE is ten percent more likely to spread than the PA2 subtype of omega.
Until now, the PA2 sub variant of omega has been considered to be the most intense of the Govit-19. If this new research on XE is confirmed, it is reported that it could be a more aggressive contagious Covit-19 type. Currently the PA2 subtype of omega is widespread in many parts of the world, with most PA2 infections being diagnosed in the United States.
The new variant XE currently being discovered is a mutation of two variants of omega, BA.1 and BA.2. It was first diagnosed in the UK on January 19 and less than 600 cases have been confirmed so far, the World Health Organization said in a statement earlier this week.
As the impact of corona infection around the world is seen to be diminishing, this announcement by the World Health Organization has created new fears among the population.
