Paris – The men’s Euro 2021 basketball championship has been postponed to 2022 following the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics due to the coronavirus pandemic, while the women’s Euro in France has been maintained for the end of June 2021, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced on Thursday.

The men’s Euro was initially scheduled to be held in Germany, Italy, Georgia and the Czech Republic from August 17 to September 1, 2021, just after the new dates of the Olympic Games (July 23 to August 8).

The competition is now scheduled to take place between September 1 and 18, 2022, a summer in which no major competition was scheduled.

The men’s Olympic qualifying tournaments will also be played between June 22 and July 4, 2021.

For other FIBA ​​competitions, the Women’s Euro 2021 will be held from June 17 to 27 in Spain and France, while the Women’s World Cup in Australia will take place from September 22 to October 1, 2022.
