It’s a discovery he would have done well without. Jean-Guy Berriet, resident of Cléden-Cap-Sizun (Finistère) discovered this Friday that several of these sheep had been decimated, reports West France. “I’ve had sheep for fifteen years. I had never seen that,” he lamented. According to him, the culprits are obvious: two dogs. In total, this breeder lost nine sheep.

Around 5:30 p.m. this Friday, Jean-Guy’s son goes to the place where ten sheep are grazing. When he arrives, he realizes that two dogs are in the sheep enclosure, one of which is wearing a collar. According to Ouest-France, five sheep then died and two were dying: all seven were devoured by dogs. They also have all their ears ripped off. Two other sheep went missing and have not been found. “The dogs probably chased them and killed them elsewhere.” “It hurt my heart,” Jean-Guy Berriet reacted. Ultimately, the two dying sheep had to be euthanized.

Only one of the ten sheep survived this tragedy. Its owner indicated that he would call “a veterinarian for medical monitoring of the surviving ewe”. He also said he wanted to file a complaint with the police. “These dogs are dangerous. They could do it again,” he believes. He thus wishes to alert other breeders in the sector.
