The IRDH urges action, reminding them that thousands of bodies lie outside the capital, Kinshasa.
The Human Rights Research Institute (IRDH) continues with interest the declarations of the Minister of Justice, HE Constant Mutamba Tungunga, aimed at “extending justice” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The latest relates to the directive he received from the Head of State to “exhume bodies from the closets of justice”.
In fact, in addition to the intention to reform the judicial system, the Minister spoke about major legal cases, especially those related to: (i) Referral of serious crime cases to the International Criminal Court (ICC); (ii) IGF reports on corruption for the past three years; (iii) The fight against embezzlement and money laundering; (iv) To close churches and non-profit organizations, according to the law; and (v) decongestion of the pen centers of the Republic.
The IRDH puts the Minister to the test. He is willing to facilitate the investigation into allegations of misappropriation of public funds and corruption in Haut-Katanga province. Contrary to the belief that, on the one hand, these numerous medium releases are nothing more than simple wishful thinking. And on the other hand, Congolese litigants are accepted for jokes.
- Misappropriation of final statements and retirement pensions by the companies CNSS, Gécamines, SNCC, Sodimico and Sogetel;
- Misappropriation of mining royalties paid by SOMIKA and CDM, for the construction of the Kipopo – Poleni Road (Tshamalale District, Comune de Lubumbashi Annex);
- Pollution at the Lubumbashi town hall, in the case of relocation of the CRAA dump, Kasapa district, Annexe commune;
- Corruption in the case of aggravated pollution by the companies CHEMAF and RUASHI Mining, in the Comune Ruashi.
IRDH recalls that these denials, the bodies in Haut-Katanga’s coffin, go back several years.
- Of more than 3,000 pensioners, victims of public companies, more than 2,000 have already died, without ever recovering their rights;
- Funds to build the Kipopo – Poleni Road have been disbursed in full since September 2019, but work has been abandoned;
- Public dumping of CRAA Cell, Kasapa District skin epidemic ignored by Lubumbashi Town Hall;
- The various lung diseases are trivialized by pollution from the mining companies CHEMAF and RUASHI, which harms the Population of the Ruashi Communion.
