Although the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ had been celebrated in Rome on Thursday, June 8, on Sunday the 11th the procession of the Body of Christ in Vatican City, in which faithful and members of the Swiss Guard participated.

After the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Teutonic Camposanto, the Vatican cemetery, the procession of the Blessed Sacrament took place, presided over by the German bishop Mons. Josef Clemens, who between 2003 and 2016 was secretary of the then Pontifical Council for the Laity .

The procession started from the Teutonic Cemetery and toured the Vatican gardens until it reached the Lourdes Grotto, the replica commissioned by Pope Leo XIII in 1902 of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, in France.

The ceremony was organized by the Pontifical Teutonic Institute of Santa Maria dell’Anima in Rome.
