The Correa-supporting political group of the Citizen Revolution (RC) changed its symbol on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, just after the Prosecutor’s Office used a part of its emblem to identify the case of alleged smuggling of ‘Triple A’ fuels.

The change was noted on the party’s social media, where a red flame was hidden above the RC5 letters on the list. The profile photo was “updated“, according to the party’s official channels, but they have not given further details.

The leaders of this political group criticized the Attorney General’s Office for using the colors of their party and the flag of Guayaquil in the investigation into a family business of the mayor of the city, Aquiles Alvarez, who is being accused of selling fuel irregularly.

Aquiles Alvarez commented on his X account that he feels sorry that they use the sacred colors of the Guayaquil flag.

The mayor, who belongs to Correa’s movement, clarifies that the case is a “persecution” by the government of Daniel Noboa and that is why it had to be investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The logo is light blue and white, just like the flag of this coastal city. It is also used in the symbols of Correísmo. In addition, it has a red flame and a black tower, which resembles an oil sign.

Three capital letters A are added, representing the initials of Aquiles and Antonio Alvarez, the brothers who own Copedesa. This company was registered by the police on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, due to an investigation into a possible diversion of fuel.
