Riyadh: Several prominent figures, including a former Saudi ambassador and a judge, have been sentenced in a corruption case in Saudi Arabia. The Anti-Corruption Authority has announced the preliminary verdict in financial and administrative corruption cases.

Former Saudi ambassador sentenced to five years in prison for abuse of power The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (NASA) has charged him with abusing his position for personal gain and embezzling public funds. The arrested former prosecutor was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 50,000 Saudi riyals. He was arrested in a bribery case.

Six more judges have been arrested in connection with the corruption case. A judge who was also a former member of the Shura Council was convicted of bribery and sentenced to seven years and six months in prison and a fine of 500,000 riyals. All six citizens were found guilty of bribery. They face up to two years and six months in prison. A fine of 100,000 riyals must be paid.

A judge who is also the head of a local execution court has been sentenced to one year in prison for abusing his position for personal gain. The former judge of the General Court sentenced him to four and a half years in prison and fined him 110,000 riyals. The move comes after he was found guilty of bribery and forgery with the participation of another judge.
