The shipping company Corsica Ferries owes 48,000 euros for refusing to compensate passengers who suffered delays, we learned on Friday from the Directorate General for Competition, Consumption and Protection (DGCCRF).

“Following an investigation by competition, consumer and fraud prevention agents, the direction of the department of employment, work, union and population protection of Haute-Corse has issued an administrative fine of “the amount of 48,000 euros against SAS Corsica Ferries, specialized in ship shipping. and whose head office is in Bastia”, specified the DGCCRF in a press release.

The operation of the vehicle is not affected

The investigation established that the carrier refused to compensate passengers who suffered delays on arrival on three crossings made by its ships, he added. “Contrary to the reasons given by the carrier, these delays are not justified by circumstances that undermine the operation of the vessel in complete safety,” he assured, calculating that by not paying for affected passengers, living in violation of a European law.

Corsica Ferries is a company with yellow ships and the Italian flag which is the leader in the transportation between Corsica and the French continent.
