CORTINA. 400 kilograms of fish and food were seized in an operation to protect the fishing industry conducted by the Venice Coast Guard in some catering establishments – some of which were also renowned – in the Cortina d’Ampezzo area: eight fines were issued, for a total of 22,000 euros.

The operation was conducted in functional dependence on the Ministry of Agriculturefood sovereignty and forests, with the aim of preventing illegal behaviour that compromises the quality of fish products, especially “made in Italy” products, and to protect the final consumer.

The seized products include sea bass, amberjack, cuttlefish, squid, red shrimp, octopus, salmon and other non-fish food products.

During the various operations, a total quantity of 1,400 kilograms of food was seized – counting fish products, but also untraceable foods or foods that did not comply with labelling regulations and with expired expiry dates.

All the products were found to lack the minimum traceability information, mandatory at every stage of marketing, and with the minimum or expiry date already exceeded.
