A Cosmopolitan, one of the most read women’s magazines in the world, stated that Satanism is a “religion” that practices abortion as a “satanic ritual”. The publication, which has more than 50 million readers, is integrating a narrative to sell the idea that the worship of Satan is a cultural expression.

In the most recent edition, the Cosmopolitan published an article about the Satanic Temple (TST) and its New Mexico-based telemedicine abortion clinic, which provides “abortion medications via mail to those wishing to perform the Satanic Temple Religious Abortion Ritual.”

Samuel Alito’s Mother Satanic Abortion Clinic — that’s the clinic’s official name — is an apparent reference to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who handed down the ruling in June 2022 that overturned legal precedent that allowed practice of abortion in the country.

According to the magazine, the Satanist organization also offers a 24-hour hotline to contact “licensed medical staff,” which are supposedly made up of TST members.

The article’s author, Arielle Domb, says the clinic is “inspired” by historic court rulings “in favor of Christian business owners who deny services to people [LGBT] purely for religious reasons.”

The article goes on to call TST a “faith-based group” and asserts that TST – and by extension, Satanism, which is its central doctrine – “is a religion”: “Unlike other mail-order abortion pill providers… TST is a religion, which means that its patients, who do not need to be Satanists, are participating in a religious ritual”, romanticized writer Arielle Domb.

Not only is abortion a “religious ritual” similar to baptism or communion, but, according to the article, Satanists “do not actually worship the devil.”

“It doesn’t matter that Satanists don’t actually worship the devil. There are no ritual sacrifices or searches for supernatural powers in TST. In reality, Satanism is a non-theistic faith in which TST’s approximately 1.5 million global members view Satan more as a mascot, portrayed not as a dark, omniscient deity but as a literary character – a venerable symbol. of rebellion, rational inquiry, personal sovereignty. and resistance against tyranny”, summarizes the article by Cosmopolitanaccording to information from the portal The Christian Post.
