Millions of French people go camping during the holidays, especially in Cap Fréhel in the Côtes-d’Armor, the largest in France and one of the most authentic.
At the end of the Emerald Coast, Cap Fréhel (Côtes-d’Armor) is a landmark for campers. They fight each year to have the best place on a 30-hectare site. In this game, Évelyne Henri and her daughter often win. The mother is even the doyenne of the campsite: 45 summers spent here. “I came with my brothers and sisters. We liked it right away”, she says. They travel 730 kilometers from the Ardennes, but seek calm. “I prefer that atmosphere.”says his daughter Pauline.
Village of 3,500 people
Built in the 1950s on a sand dune among pine trees and next to the sea, the campsite is the largest municipal campsite in France. The village of 3,500 people offers a snack bar and laundries as its only services. “Here, we always have a lot of people. Many regulars, people passing through. We are currently at more than 860 places”, explains Olivier Vit, manager of the campsite. There are no numbered seats. Everyone parks where they want and where they can.
