Berlin – FC Energie Cottbus has taken a big step towards promotion to the 3rd league. The league leaders from Lausitz won the explosive top game in the Northeast Regional League at BFC Dynamo 2-0 (0-0) in the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen on Saturday. Energie Cottbus leads the table with 67 points, ahead of Greifswald (62) and BFC Dynamo (57). Greifswald plays against FSV Zwickau on Sunday and can reduce the gap to Cottbus with a win. The first in the Regionalliga Northeast will be promoted directly to the 3rd league after this season.
In the game, which was evenly balanced for a long time in front of 7,500 spectators, Cottbus took the lead in the 67th minute through Maximilian Krauß. Tim Heike made the final score 2-0 after 82 minutes. BFC Dynamo only had minimal chances of winning the championship before the game and had already announced that they would be separating from coach Dirk Kunert after the season.
The game in the Sportforum Berlin-Hohenschönhausen was classified by the police as a so-called risky game. At the first leg in November in Cottbus there were riots in the guest area of the BFC fans.
