jpnn.comJAKARTA – Generation Z is a demographic bonus and continues to play an important role in the nation’s future. However, currently the space for direct aspirations to the government is still not available

“In fact, Gen Z is the generation that will face the direct impact of today’s decision, including in small areas that often escape attention,” said Executive Director of the Political Literacy Generation (GMP) Neildeva Despendya in a press statement, Saturday (5/10).

Neildeva feels that the government has only made young people the target audience, but has not really listened to what they need and want. Because in a democratic country, a culture of open dialogue such as town hall meetings is part of the political process.

“For example, in the United States, Finland, New Zealand and England, there is a Youth Parliament Forum to enable young people to convey criticism and aspirations directly to the government,” he said.

“However, in Indonesia, this kind of dialogue culture is still minimal, especially for the younger generation who often do not get adequate space to voice their views,” continued Neildeva.

Realizing the importance of young generation participation, Neildeva is committed to being a pioneer in strengthening young people’s participation through the Council of Gen Z (COGZ) by raising the topic of Climate Crisis Policy in the New Government: Golden Indonesia or Anxious Indonesia?

“This (COGZ) is an initiative that aims to create a safe and inclusive space for political participation for young people, not only providing a space for discussion, but also aiming to empower the younger generation to be more involved in politics, ensuring that their voices are taken into account in policy making, “he said…

For information, COGZ brought together 10 of the best Gen Z representatives from Academia Politica, who came from various regions, namely Kalimantan, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Jabodetabek and Sulawesi.

The Council of Gen Z has become a space to speak out on the climate crisis for the Prabowo-Gibran government.
