The big hourglass clock at Apple Park is already sending its last grains downwards. It is the clock that marks the launch of the highly anticipated iPhone 16, which will first be presented on September 9 at a special Apple event that has already been confirmed. Therefore, we will soon confirm everything we already know. And we say this because, as every year, leaks are responsible for uncovering a good part of the cake.
What is currently spreading like wildfire is the feature that sparks the most interest and controversy: the price of the iPhone 16. No, they cannot be purchased yet. In fact, we already warned that Apple has not even officially confirmed the imminent existence of these phones. However, this rumor serves as a prelude to what we might actually see in their catalog in less than two weeks.
This is how the price of the iPhone has evolved in Spain
The context is important when discussing prices. The fact is that iPhones have remained for many years within a similar range until 2022, when with the generation of the iPhone 14 and after five years of stability, they decided to raise them.
In all these years, we must consider several factors threatening prices. From inflation to the rising cost of living, as well as Apple’s own strategy, which started by launching a single version of the iPhone during the first years, and how years later it has been adding more versions, reaching the last years with up to four iPhones.
For this graph, we have excluded the first iPhone since it was not officially launched in Spain and the three generations of iPhone SE as they are really different ranges. For the generations that had several iPhones, we took the average price among all based on their most basic configurations.

Percentage-wise, the largest increase of an iPhone was from the ‘3G’ to the ‘3GS’, increasing the price by 65%, although it is also true that that price (150 euros) was somewhat misleading as it was tied to carrier plans, which were the ones distributing it.
However, the most notable was what happened with the iPhone 14, which, despite the increase being 16.5%, was particularly felt as it was by far the most expensive generation of iPhones. With the iPhone 15, despite not reaching the levels of the iPhone 13 generation, they decreased to stabilize.
What prices are expected for the iPhone 16
Above all, we want to make it clear that, although there may be many leaks about features and they may be reliable, those regarding prices are not always so. In fact, it is most common not to have certainty until Apple confirms it. It is not easy to predict knowing that in the end the currency exchange is always problematic and the information to which leakers have access is usually from the United States.
Precisely, it is from there that the information now talking about these prices comes:
- iPhone 16: starting from 799 dollars.
- iPhone 16 Plus: starting from 899 dollars.
- iPhone 16 Pro: starting from 1,099 dollars.
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: starting from 1,199 dollars.
If we look at the current prices of the iPhone 15 in the United States, we observe that all would remain identical except for the ‘Pro’, which would increase by 100 dollars compared to the 999 dollars of the iPhone 15 Pro.
Putting this leak into question, the truth is that there are no indications to the contrary either. In other times when the price has increased, whether in Spain or other countries, it has been predicted. This time it hasn’t.
Unless something surprising happens, in Spain we will have the same prices as with the iPhone 15
Thus, we can expect good news for Spain. Not the best news, of course, since that would imply a price drop. However, they are maintained, which is not insignificant and also makes sense. Because yes, there will be substantial improvements, but they will not be devices with an excessive change compared to the previous generation, as is expected, for example, with the iPhone 17 next year.
If anything, and in order to lay all cards on the table, we can theorize that the price of the iPhone 16 Pro might also rise in our country. However, it doesn’t necessarily have to. If we look at what happened last year, that device decreased in price, while the ‘Pro Max’ remained the same compared to its predecessor despite offering double the base memory. Therefore, the idea of prices today stands as follows:
- iPhone 16: starting from 959 euros.
- iPhone 16 Plus: starting from 1,109 euros.
- iPhone 16 Pro: starting from 1,219 euros/1,319 euros.
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: starting from 1,469 euros.
Lastly, it is worth mentioning that it does not match what is seen in the United States, but the reason why the dollar to euro exchange rate is not 1:1 is that in the end the value is not the same, that prices in the United States are offered before taxes, and that in Spain it already includes 21% VAT. Moreover, Apple also adds other logistical costs.
