Farida Akhtar, adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, said that the people of the country will not get hilsa, and it cannot be exported abroad. Country should be given importance first.

The adviser said these things while talking to journalists after joining his office for the first time in the secretariat on Sunday (August 11).

Farida Akhtar said, “If the name of the ministry was Hilsa Ministry, I would not have objected.” Because, Hilsa is a special fish, which is only found in Bangladesh. It is more than export, we have to try, so that the people of the country can get the hilsa. It is not reasonable to increase its price unnecessarily. I do not approve of sending people out of the country without food. As a result, if we can save it, we can all eat hilsa together, we will try it.

When asked whether he can control the prices of products like milk and eggs, the adviser said, he has to. Whether I can or not, that’s the next thing. But my responsibility is to reduce the price. There are many syndicates at many levels. For example, I heard in one place that prices go up due to extortion. In terms of supply, there are many tolls to get from the place of production to the market, which increases the price of the product. A ministry cannot work alone in those places. It should be done by Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Finance. The price of these special foods cannot be allowed to increase. I will discuss further, where there are problems and go there and definitely want to reduce the price.

The species of fish, cattle and goats in our country are remarkable in the world. I will pay attention to the job opportunities available in this ministry. There is a lot of research going on here. From here, there will be many opportunities to meet people’s livelihood, supply of nutrition, lack of meat.’

Adviser said that there should be no chance of irregularities, we will definitely look into it. But the first thing is to go to the offices at the village level or the field level. I will identify the problems that are there.
