New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the fourth Global Renewable Energy Investor Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat today i.e. on Monday. In his address, PM Modi mentioned Modhera village of Gujarat and praised it. Addressing the people who came to this expo, he said that Modhera village is India’s first solar village. That is, electricity is generated from solar energy in this village. Let us tell you that two years ago PM Modi had declared this village as a solar village. This village is the first solar village in the country. There is no connection of normal electricity coming to the houses in this village. Solar panels are installed on the roof of every house in this village. Villagers use the electricity generated from this.India will become a developed country by the year 2047, PM told the action plan at the inauguration of RE-INVEST

This village is famous for the Sun Temple

This village is in Mehsana district of Gujarat. There are about 1300 houses here. The world famous Sun Temple is in this village. Now this village is also known as the country’s first solar village apart from the Sun Temple. Now the people here generate electricity through solar panels and use it. Due to this, the electricity bill of the people here has become zero. At the same time, there are many houses where the electricity produced by solar panels is more than the cost. In such a situation, these people also earn money by selling electricity.

Electricity is available 24 hours

While there is still a problem of electricity in many villages of the country, this village has electricity 24 hours a day. The central government and the state government have jointly borne the cost of providing solar panels to every house. It has cost about 10 million dollars (about 84 crores rupees). Every house in this village has a one kilowatt rooftop panel on its roof. There is also a 6 megawatt solar project in the village. Through this, electricity is also supplied to those houses whose consumption is high. This reduces the electricity bill of those people considerably.

You can also get solar panels installed

If you also want to generate and use electricity through solar panels, then you can get solar panels installed on the roof of your house under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under this scheme, up to 300 units of electricity is available free of cost. Under this scheme, the cost of installing a solar rooftop is around Rs 65,000. However, this cost can be higher depending on the higher kilowatts. The cost incurred in this is subsidized by the central government.
