How many Ile-de-France clubs will join PSG this Monday evening during the draw for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France? The last five survivors of the Paris-Ile-de-France League are on deck this Saturday and Sunday during the 8th round in order to win the precious sesame and perhaps inherit at the beginning of January a Ligue 1 team which will be then entry into the running.

Paris FC will rotate, but not too much…

After its miraculous qualification at the end of the suspense in Villejuif (R1) in the previous round (5-4 in the tabs), Paris FC (L2) in full recovery in the championship (5 victories in the last 7 matches), receives at the Charléty stadium, four days after having delighted their audience against Rodez (2-0), Saint-Denis FC, which has just finished 4th in its Reunion championship.

“This is our 3rd match in a week, in terms of organizations and mental load, I felt that there was fatigue,” explains Stéphane Gilli, the Parisians’ coach. But we will have to be serious and not take this match lightly. We prepared for this match with the same rigor and quality as a Ligue 2 match.”

The staff who leaves three starters to rest (Nkambadio, Mbow, Hamel) will rotate their team but not entirely. “There will be 3-4 players who have had less playing time recently, like Lohann Doucet who is returning from her shoulder surgery, who will return to bring freshness,” specifies Gilli. But we are going to keep a structure, because putting 11 players who don’t play often would not be doing them any favors. »

Beware of the Guadeloupean trap for Fleury

Nearly 7 years after its greatest adventure in the Coupe de France (1-0 defeat at Avranches in the round of 16), Fleury travels to Guadeloupe to face CS Moule. An opponent that the Essonniens, 6th in their group (D) in N2, had faced and beaten (0-3) at the same stage of the competition in 2016.

“We expect a very difficult match, it will come down to lucidity and efficiency,” said president Pascal Bovis. We went from 0 to 30 degrees in a few hours, we have to adapt even if we aren’t going to complain. I see this meeting as a human adventure. »

The 91 delegation arrived in Guadeloupe with 40 and not 22 (air and land travel costs and accommodation for the teams are covered by the FFF for 22 people). “I invited several volunteer leaders and the players chipped in so that the entire squad could come here,” says Pascal Bovis. The match will take place on a synthetic pitch and will start at 3 p.m. mainland time (10 a.m. local time).

Le Plessis-Robinson challenges L2 leader

After eliminating Houilles AC (0-2) in the previous round, SCO Angers, leader of Ligue 2, once again travels to the Paris region to face another R1 team from the Paris region, Le Plessis-Robinson (R1). This is the first participation of the Hauts-de-Seine team at this stage of the competition. “Even if we face a club rooted in French football and at the top of the L2, we are competitors, we will believe it,” insists coach Julien Zenguinian. We have studied their game. We will prepare as best we can by trying to annoy them. »

Racing for a 32nd, 20 after…

Sunday, Racing CFF, 7th in its N2 group, goes to Normandy to AS Villers Houlgate (6th in its group in N3). If the Racingmen are having a good run in the competition, they are however losing momentum in the championship with a series of 5 matches without a victory (2 draws and 3 defeats). The last time Racing played in a Cup final of 32 was 20 years ago.

“Racing has a great history with this cup (five-time winner) and we want to go further and write a story together with the boys,” says coach Guillaume Norbert. The Coupe de France can be a good way to restart with a victory and regain confidence. It’s an important match for our cup career but also for getting back into our championship. You will have to put a lot of intensity and desire into it. It will be a difficult match against a good team who will play in front of their home crowd. »

The SSG Agreement to find the light

After having played a 32nd final in 2018 and a 16th final in 2019, the Entente SSG hopes to succeed in a new great adventure even if the Val-d’Oisiens, last in their group in N3, do not start favorites against the Corsicans of AS Furiani-Agliani (3rd in group C of N2).

“It’s very good to have gotten this far, it’s allowed us to play an official match every weekend since the start of the season,” explains coach Jimmy Modeste. These cup matches allowed us to raise the bar a little in the championship (Editor’s note: the Entente won its last 2 matches in N3). We are going to play hard against a great team. It’s a bonus match which rewards the boys’ good performance since the start of the competition. We also want to give a good image of the club through this event. »
