The distribution started at noon but some families have been queuing since 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday, in front of the Courbevoie event center to collect the 2,000 schoolbags offered as part of the “Rentrée pour tous” operation.

The success of this device, initiated for the eighth edition by Arash Derambarsh, deputy mayor and lawyer, cannot be denied. “It is consistent to organize the distribution on the day of the music festival, it helps to strengthen the visibility and the festive dimension of the day”, underlines the elected official.

The range of bags, wider than in previous years, appealed to children and parents. “I’m happy,” smiles Tia, who will be back in CM1 and left with her red bag already on her back.

Another novelty: instead of the usual supplies, each bag contained a book, thanks to the partnership set up with the “Free Words” festival. Some parents welcomed this change. “The book is very good, it will help him sleep and it’s more expensive than pens,” agreed Imen, 41, mother of a six-year-old boy.

Concerned about the difficulties encountered by the most fragile inhabitants of Courbevoie, especially since the Covid health crisis, Arash Derambarsh makes sure, with his partners, to increase the number of schoolbags each year. This Wednesday, there were 500 more than last year.

Those who benefit appreciate it. Like Marisa, 40 years old. “It’s very good, it helps us financially because it’s a real budget, the supplies,” notes this mother of two children.

The event is financed entirely by private funds, thanks to the partnerships of Carrefour, Franprix and Dentsu. Arash Derambarsh refuses all subsidies. “I do not want to use taxpayers’ money which I consider reserved for the proper functioning of sovereign actions”, argues the deputy mayor.

The international Gaël Fickou in distribution

He shares this idea with the members of the companies he uses. “It’s a contribution for our everyday customers, who are also residents of the city and citizens,” agrees Malek Allek, director of the Carrefour district of Bécon.

The distribution, which lasted four hours, required six months of organization upstream, to establish partnerships, acquire stocks and organize the workforce. About thirty volunteers help to run the day smoothly, in particular from the Courbevoie Rugby Club.

20 children and adolescents from the municipal youth council (CMJ) also actively participated in the distribution on Wednesday. The city has also called on three professional rugby players. Thus, the children were able to discuss with Ryan Chapuis, Hassane Kolingar and Gaël Fickou. Less than a month away from the Rugby World Cup for which he is preparing, he has even found the time to distribute schoolbags himself!
