Doha: The court acquitted the expatriate who was arrested on charges of theft in Qatar. A Doha court has acquitted an expatriate arrested for stealing 1,750 riyals from a taxi driver, local Arabic daily Araya reported. The court released the accused as no evidence could be presented against him.

The taxi driver alleged that he stole money from him with the help of his accomplice while he was traveling in his car. When the two were finally arrested, the accused denied all the allegations and said he did not know why the driver was accusing them of theft. The accused’s lawyer informed the court that all the arrest proceedings were illegal and that his client should be released.
