Thiruvananthapuram: An Ernakulam court has issued an arrest warrant against Malayalam actor Vijay Babu who is in hiding. Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu is wanted by the Kochi police in connection with the rape of a young Malayalam actress. Kochi police believe he may be in Dubai. Kochi police repeatedly sent him notices via email asking him to appear immediately for questioning. But, so far he has not appeared.
Following this, the Kochi police took action to arrest Vijay Babu with the help of the International Police. A Blue Corner notice has been issued to arrest him with the permission of the Union Home Ministry. The Red Corner Notice must be issued after this notice has been issued. Only then will the Interpol be formally informed. The court must issue an arrest warrant prior to the Red Corner Notice. In this context, the Ernakulam court issued an arrest warrant against Vijay Babu the day before yesterday.
The arrest warrant was sent by the Kochi police to the United Arab Emirates. Details of the case, including a photo of Vijay Babu, will be posted on the International Police website in a few days. If a Red Corner notice is issued, the police of the country in which he is staying will arrest him and hand him over to India. However, this can only be done in countries that have an agreement with India to extradite prisoners. Currently Vijay Babu is said to be in hiding in Dubai. Dubai and India have agreed to extradite prisoners. Since Vijay Babu knows this detail, the police think that he may have escaped from there to some country which did not have an agreement with India. Therefore, the Kochi police are taking serious action to arrest him within that time.
