The Court of Accounts of the Republic today began a special examination to verify the use of public funds by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, during the period from January 1, 2019 to September 26, 2024.

Thus, this Monday, audit teams appeared, simultaneously, at the TSE headquarters, located in the Escalón neighborhood, and at the facilities of the Directorate of Electoral Organization (DOE), on the highway to Comalapa.

With this control action, the financial and operational records will be carefully analyzed with the purpose of examining the use of the resources assigned to the highest electoral authority in the country. Upon completion, the CCR will issue a detailed report of the situation found, as well as may make recommendations if necessary, which are mandatory.

Article 195 of the Constitution of the Republic establishes that the supervision of the Public Treasury in general and the execution of the Budget in particular, will be in charge of an independent body of the Executive Branch, which will be called the Court of Accounts of the Republic.
