In less than two days, the first CoV vaccination appointments for Viennese children between the ages of five and eleven were taken. In a second installment, the city will enable 50,400 vaccination appointments for children next Monday at the beginning of the lockdown.
The vaccination of children in Vienna is carried out in accordance with the regulations and criteria under which the Covid vaccination is approved for five to eleven year olds in the USA. The new, additional appointments mean that instead of the previous 200, just over 1,200 children can be vaccinated per day, according to the office of City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ). The registration takes place unchanged as before either via the health telephone 1450 or online via the vaccination service Vienna.
Parents or legal guardians must note that they must create an account for themselves and then enter their children as additional relatives under the heading “Personal data”. People under the age of 14 may only take place with the consent of a person entitled to custody. Vaccination is only done with the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine. 127,800 children between the ages of five and eleven live in Vienna. Around 1,500 of them will have had their first vaccination by the end of this week.
Advance vaccination appointments that have already been booked
An extension of the vaccination appointments for children was announced at the opening of the children’s vaccination route in the Austria Center last Monday. The first 9,400 appointments, which were activated at the time, were taken in less than 48 hours. Anyone who has booked appointments from this first tranche should not suffer any disadvantages in the vaccination sequence by activating the second tranche. So the city announced that it would contact them all by email. You can then move forward your already booked appointments to new appointments today, Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday.
After the weekend, the 50,400 new appointments will be activated. Hacker emphasized that by the end of December, almost 50 percent of this age group could get a first vaccination.
