Covid-19, Aosta military field hospital closed

by time news

In six months, about thirty non-serious patients were hospitalized

AOSTA. With the third wave of infections from Covid-19 nearing its end, the field hospital set up by the Army in a warehouse of the Espace Aosta is now closed. The farewell ceremony between the regional authorities and the managers of the structure took place today at the Regional Palace, six months after the inauguration of the structure.

Since December 2020, the field hospital – a facility dedicated largely to low-care-intensity Covid patients – has hosted 33 patients with mild symptoms. The average hospital stay is about 20 days.

Until March, various Army health profiles and eighteen logistics units operated in the health facility including nurses, health operators and logisticians, doctors and social health workers. Then, with the decrease in hospitalizations and the start of the vaccination campaign, part of the resources used in the military hospital were used in the regional vaccination centers.
