by time news

In all, 49,482 new positive cases for the Omicron variant have been recorded in the past 24 hours in France. The seven-day average, which smooths variations by day of the week, stands at 57,186 cases, down from 61,628 on Friday. It exceeded 130,000 in early April.

Within the hospital, the main indicators have also started to decline, which will continue since the number of daily cases has been falling sharply for two weeks. The number of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 is thus down, to 23,302 including 558 new admissions, against 24,840 including 916 new admissions a week ago, according to data from Public Health France.

Critical care is also affected by this decrease: there were 1,562 Covid patients on Saturday, compared to 1,636 last Saturday. The number of new admissions fell from 69 a week ago to 45 on Saturday.

Nearly 146,000 dead

The total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic stands at 145,930, 61 more than the day before.

Friday, France had 54,329,500 people who received at least one vaccine injection (i.e. 80.6% of the total population) and 53,425,174 with a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 79.2% of the total population). In addition, as of April 29, 41,136,094 booster doses had been performed.
