New York: City officials on Friday urged the public to wear high-quality masks indoors and in public amid rising cases of Covid, flu and RSV in New York City.
City Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Yasan has asked that people who go to shops and offices should wear masks in public places in New York City.
The commissioner also reminded that masks are mandatory for those who have received the Covid vaccine, healthcare workers and nursing home workers.
In the last two weeks, there has been a 55 percent increase in the number of Covid cases in the city. The recently released data also recorded that 20 percent were hospitalized.
There has been a 64 percent increase in flucases in the past week. City officials say a majority of New Yorkers have received the vaccine and 40 percent have received a booster dose. The city has also warned that there is a possibility of increasing the spread of Covid during the winter season.
