Covid, buffer obligation for arrivals from China until 31 January 2023

The ordinance signed yesterday by the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, on the obligation of anti-Covid swabs for passengers arriving from China will be in force until January 31, 2023. This is what the text of the provision reads.

The ordinance also provides, for the purposes of identifying and containing the spread of possible variants of the Sars-CoV-2 virus”, for “all persons entering from China the obligation to present to the carrier upon boarding , and to anyone in charge of carrying out the checks, of the certification of having undergone, in the 72 hours prior to entering the national territory, a molecular test, or, in the 48 hours prior, to an antigen test carried out by means of a swab with a result negative”.

The ordinance also prescribes the “obligation to undergo an antigen test, to be carried out by means of a swab, upon arrival at the airport, or, if this is not possible, within 48 hours of entering the national territory at the ‘reference local healthcare company’. And “in the event of a positive result of the antigen test”, there is the “obligation to immediately undergo a molecular test for the purposes of subsequent sequencing and fiduciary isolation in compliance with current legislation”. Isolation that will end after a negative swab.

“Provided that no symptoms of Covid-19 arise, the provisions of paragraph 1 of this article do not apply to children under the age of 6, crew members and traveling staff of means of transport of people and goods, officials and agents, however named, of the European Union or of international organisations, diplomatic agents, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions, consular officials and employees, military personnel, including those returning from international missions, and of Police Forces, to the personnel of the Information System for the security of the Republic and of the Fire Brigade in the exercise of their functions”, is also provided for in the ordinance.

The Minister of Health will be in the Senate Hall today at 3.30 pm to provide information on the health control measures for passengers from China. The president Ignazio La Russa communicated this to the Chamber.
