If all goes according to plan, the obligation to wear masks outdoors will be lifted in France on 30 June. This was announced by the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon, speaking this morning on Rtl. “Hopefully,” he said, answering a question about the obligation to wear a mask in the open spaces in the summer, “we will lift a series of restrictions on June 30”.
“We have a coherent, progressive, situation-related calendar, the French have perfectly understood and respected this calendar and so hopefully we will revoke a series of obligations on 30 June, if conditions allow,” he said.
This despite knowing, he pointed out, “that of course social distancing will remain, it is important: washing hands, distances, paying attention in large gatherings”, he added, recalling that the mask will remain mandatory in closed spaces where “there are many more risks “of being infected.
