Covid, India has run out of oxygen cylinders

Indian health authorities have launched an appeal, also on social networks, to receive new stocks of oxygen cylinders, no longer sufficient to deal with hospitalizations from Covid19.

The situation in the country is precipitating, especially a New Delhi. The second most populous country in the world is posting impressive numbers. Only yesterday there were 295 thousand more cases and it is feared that the number could rapidly increase. According to health authorities, public hospitals in New Delhi have sufficient oxygen supplies only for the next 24 hours, in many private facilities the oxygen is already finished.

New Delhi, 20 million inhabitants, yesterday recorded 277 deaths from Covid, the highest number of victims since the beginning of the pandemic. One third of the population is positive for the virus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “India is undergoing a storm that is bringing the health system to its knees.”

Up to now India, one billion and 300 million abintants, has vaccinated about 130 million people.
