Covid Italy, Iss: percentage of cases in school age rises

In the last week, the percentage of Covid-19 cases of school age has risen compared to the general population (8.1% compared to 7.5%). This is what emerges from the extended report, released by the Higher Institute of Health (Iss) which integrates the weekly monitoring of the Covid-19 trend in Italy. In the last week – the report details – 17% of school-age cases were diagnosed in children under 5, 34% in the 5-11 age group, 49% in the 12-19 year group.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 4,680,674 cases have been diagnosed and reported to the Covid integrated surveillance system in the population 0-19 years of age, of which 23,964 hospitalized, 534 hospitalized in intensive care and 75 died.

REINFECTIONS – In the last week, the percentage of reinfections from Covid-19 decreased slightly compared to the previous week (16.6% compared to 16.7% last week.

From 24 August 2021 to 2 November – the report reports – 1,352,001 cases of reinfection were reported, equal to 6.9% of the total cases notified in the same period.
