“The impact of the Covid disease” in Italy “on hospital services is increasing but, overall, still below the alert thresholds”. This is what is revealed by the draft of the weekly ISS-Ministry of Health monitoring on the progress of the Covid epidemic in Italy (reference period 16-22 August). “No Region / Autonomous Province exceeds the critical occupancy threshold for beds in the intensive care or medical area pursuant to the Health Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020”, it is specified.

The employment rate in intensive care, however, is increasing “to 5.7% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health), with the number of people hospitalized” rising from 423 (17 August) to 504 (24 August). The employment rate in medical areas nationwide increases to 7.1%. The number of people hospitalized in these areas has risen from 3,472 (August 17) to 4,036 (August 24) “.

In the monitoring also a warning: although “the estimated transmissibility of symptomatic cases and only hospitalized cases” is “decreasing”, it is not yet “below the epidemic threshold”. Italy is not yet below the security level.
