Covid: Raducanu positive, renounces Abu Dhabi – Sport tournament

(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 13 – The winner of the US Open 2021, Emma Raducanu, tested positive at Covid-19 and therefore will not take part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, an exhibition tournament scheduled for this week in Abu Dhabi. The 19-year-old British would have had to face the Olympic champion Belinda Bencic next Thursday, instead she will have to respect a period of isolation in the Emirates, where she had already arrived. The first qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament – with her success over Leylah Fernandez in the US Open final in Flushing Meadows – worked with a new manager, Torben Beltz, to prepare for her first full season on the WTA circuit.
