Covid threatens the Olympics: record-breaking infections in Tokyo in the last six months

The “quasi” state of emergency is currently in force in the capital and in the three surrounding prefectures, lasting until 22 August, beyond the official program of the Games.

United Kingdom: 96 deaths in 24 hours; never so many since March

In the last 24 hours, the United Kingdom has recorded 96 deaths from Covid: it is the highest number since last March 24. Also in the last 24 hours, the new cases detected were 46,558. The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic is 128,823. Monday was “Freedom day”, which is the day almost all the latest anti Covid restrictions were lifted. For weeks, infections have continued to grow in the country due to the Delta variant.

Covid: record of new cases in Iran, another 27,444
