The number of new coronavirus infections in the US has stabilized at a “disturbing level” and there is the risk of a “new wave”. This is the alarm launched today by the White House virologist, Anthony Fauci, during an interview with ‘CNN’.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, over 61,000 new cases of Covid were reported on Wednesday. The lack of a significant reduction in infections is a cause for “concern” in particular given the spread of variants, continued Fauci, according to which also in Europe there is a similar situation.
“It is almost a competition between vaccinating people and this wave that seems to want to increase”, added the virologist, underlining that “it is not the time, as I have said many times, to sing victory prematurely”.
