Covid Usa, vaccines available for all over 30s in New York from today

by time news

From today in the state of New York, all people aged 30 and over can be vaccinated against covid. From 6 April, however, all citizens over 16 will be able to access the vaccine, thus anticipating the 1 May target set by the Biden Administration for access to vaccines for the entire adult population. New York was so far one of the few states that had not yet set a date for universal access to vaccines.

The announcement by Governor Adrew Cuomo, however, comes at a stage in which the state of New York has recorded one of the highest infection rates in the United States. In the past 7 days, according to the New York Times database, an average of 49 new coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants have been recorded in the state, second only to New Jersey. The national average is currently 19 new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.

As the vaccination campaign progresses, the state has gradually reopened its economy in recent weeks. Since last month, sporting events and concerts have been allowed in large venues and cinemas have reopened in March. New York City restaurants can now serve customers indoors at 50 percent of capacity. According to data updated on Monday morning, 29.6 percent of the state’s residents were vaccinated with the first dose, while 16.8 percent are fully immunized with both doses of the vaccine.
