‘Cow Hugging Day’ will be celebrated across Madhya Pradesh on Feb 14: Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri

Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri, Executive Chairman of Gopalan and Basudhan Samvardhan Board of Madhya Pradesh, said that ‘Cow Hugging Day’ will be celebrated across Madhya Pradesh on February 14.

While 14th February is celebrated as Valentine’s Day all over the world, Animal Welfare Board of India has requested the lovers to celebrate the day as ‘Cow Hug Day’. The board had said that due to the increasing influence of western culture, Vedic traditions were on the verge of extinction.

Commenting on the issue on Thursday, Union Minister Pashottam Rupala said, ‘In this country with a tradition of worshiping cows, it will be a matter of happiness if people support the call of the Animal Welfare Board.’ Meanwhile, the Animal Welfare Board said on Friday that they are withdrawing their earlier appeal.

According to the Secretary of the Board, SK Dutta, the request was withdrawn as per the orders of Central Fisheries, Animal Husbandry Department and UY. Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri, Executive Chairman of Gopalan and Basudan Samvardhan Board of Madhya Pradesh, said that ‘Cow Hugging Day’ will be celebrated on February 14 in Madhya Pradesh.

It’s a good effort. He also stated that such appeal should not have been withdrawn by the Board.
