Kolkata – Anti-Trinamool CPM-BJP alliance won a big victory in the elections held in Midnapore, Bengal. The Bengal Cooperative Bachao Samiti, formed by CPM and BJP, won 52 out of 63 seats unopposed. The Trinamool Congress alleged that this is a CPM-BJP alliance ahead of the panchayat elections to be held next year.

BJP and CPM, who are said to be arch rivals in national politics, have joined hands to defeat the Trinamool in the Bahrampur Cooperative Agricultural Credit Society elections in Nandakumar block. The Trinamool, which filed for 46 seats, withdrew all 35.

The new alliance became the subject of debate at the state and national level. CPM and BJP leaders say that such an alliance is necessary to stop TMC’s misrule.
