CPM did not demand the resignation of Perumbavoor MLA Eldos Kunnappilly, who absconded following the rape case. The CPM has taken the stand that the decision should be taken according to the ethics of the Congress. If the Congress leadership is not ready to demand his resignation, there is a possibility that the issue will be used as a political weapon against the opposition.

The CPM state secretariat meeting held today discussed the allegation against Eldos Kunnappilly and the political situation related to it in detail. It was decided in the meeting that there is no need to demand the resignation of Eldos Kunnappilly. The meeting assessed that the longer Eldos’s resignation is delayed, the more benefit CPM will get and the more harm it will be to Congress. CPM’s move is to use political strategy to pressurize Congress to demand resignation.

At the same time, KPCC demanded that Eldos Kunnappilly MLA should give an explanation by 20th of this month in case of rape complaint. KPCC president K. Sudhakaran has given a letter with this demand, general secretary T. U. Radhakrishnan informed. A warning has been issued that severe disciplinary action will be taken if the response is not given within the stipulated time.

A serious allegation which should never be heard in the name of a public servant has now come up. Eldos Kunnappilly should give an honest explanation in the said matter to KPCC within the specified time. Otherwise, severe disciplinary action will be taken, the letter warned.
