Kannur: A brilliant start to the CPM 23rd Party Congress. CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai hoisted the flag. PB members and leaders then greeted the martyrs at the stupa. 812 delegates are attending the party congress. Most of the delegates are from Kerala. 175 people are participating. There are 160 delegates from Bengal and 40 delegates from Tripura. The draft political resolution will be presented at 4 pm today.

Movements and discussions to isolate the BJP will be held at the party congress. The BJP is using religious polarization for political gain. A secular approach is needed to oppose Hindutva. All the Hindutva agendas they are trying to bring into the society should be isolated. This is a necessary stage for the concerted action of the Left parties in the country. Yechury said a compromising attitude towards communalism would pave the way for people to move from one slum to another. CPI General Secretary D Raja greeted and spoke. The political resolution will be presented at 4 pm. The public hearing will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.
