Relations between Russia and Estonia were severely affected by the war in Ukraine. These countries face the threat of Russia.
The rift has widened day by day and has now gone so far as to send back the envoys. Russia has issued a summons to the ambassador in the country’s Estonian embassy, ordering him to leave by February 7. In response, Estonia is going to send a summons to the Russian ambassador to leave the country by the same 7th. Thus by ordering the expulsion of ambassadors from each other’s countries, the consular functions shall be carried on by the officers in charge.
Similarly, in support of neighboring Estonia, Latvia has announced that it will cut diplomatic ties with Russia from February 24.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, it accused the “Estonian government of deliberately destroying the full range of relations with Russia”.
